Background

Hoshang Patel Tech Centre is a not for profit company in India set up to help, develop, test and disseminate the technologies in renewable energy. Hoshang Patel Tech Centre is supported by Ms. Gharda Foundation, Mumbai which is leading foundation in India committed to technologies in ecology and renewable energies.

The centre has latest facilities for the production of solar panels, Lifepo4 batteries, plastics, portable solar lights, low cost solar streetlights and other fabrication works. It continues to run production of the above and generates revenues while employing student/faculty in their knowledge enhancement along with hands on skill development.

HPTIC is a section 8 not for profit company formed for the exclusive purpose of developing, demonstrating and technologies based enterprises in the campus of Gharda Institute of Technology, Lavel in Ratnagiri district.

Has 10 years of experience as development specialist in India and Africa and 15 years experience as entrepreneur and renewable energy expert.

Location

Lote industrial estate in Ratnagiri District of Maharashtra in the Konkan region in the host to many chemical companies who are in need to fulfill their environmental obligations through renewable energy initiatives, waste treatment plans among others.

Being located in the strategic western ghats, the local technical institutes lack access to a large city, demonstrated technology, incubation facilities and even internship programs which they have to seek in far Mumbai or Pune at the moment.

It will offer similarly technology space to the local students, faculty and business man to develop concepts to ideas to products and and working units. It will through running the production facilities for solar panels, accessories, plastics, electronics assembly units will offer internship, incubation and entrepreneurship support facilities.

Service Area

There are nearly 10 engineering colleges and institutes in the district without access any advanced technology, demonstration, production etc. Around 10000 students of all semesters are the primary clients.

There are around 700 to 800 faculty members of these colleges are also the clients of this facility local cities and entrepreneurs from these cities. Govt. of Maharashtra and its various bodies engaged in skill development and entrepreneurship development activities.
There is no organization offering similar facilities in the district in 100 km vicinity.

Pune and Mumbai have institutions offering incubation facilities as part of their engineering recognition setup but they do not themselves do any pilot or regular production.
